The Scat Mat is a touch sensitive training pad which tells your cat or dog "No", even when you aren't there. PetSafe Scat Mats (formerly made by Contech) train pets to stay away from areas where you don't want them by giving them a harmless little zap. Put the clear vinyl Scat Mat in the doorway to a room, lay it across your sofa, or place it on your counters. The Scat Mat will remain on guard 24 hours a day protecting your important things from your pet.

When your pet walks across the Scat Mat, small pulses of electricity move through little wires embedded in the vinyl. These little zaps come as quite a surprise to your cat or dog, who will quickly learn to avoid the area, often even after the Scat Mats are removed. The zaps are not dangerous, however, and will not cause your pet any pain- you can try it yourself!

The mats are unobtrusive, and easy for a person to step over. If you can't figure out what to do about your pet getting into things and going places where they shouldn't be, you really need to try the Scat Mat. You will be amazed how quickly your cat or dog will get trained by the Scat Mat- and watching your pet get trained makes for fun for the whole family!

Scat Mats are one of the most effective methods available for training your cat or dog. And with the different sizes of Scatt Mats available, you'll be able to find a combination of Scat Mats that will protect almost any area. Scat Mats work fine off of a 9 volt battery. A battery should last for several months of normal usage.

Scatmat extensions do not come with an independent power source- they come with a special flat extension cord that plugs in to the battery box of a regular scat mat- and they can be next to the regular mat, or even up to about five feet apart!  Note that theScatmat extensions require a regular Scat Mat to plug in to- the Scat Mat extensions do not work by themselves. Also, Scat Mat strip extensions do not come with an extension cord, they plug directly in to a regular scat mat strip. You can plug up to three scat mat extensions in to one regular scatmat. 

We also carry dummy mats, which are mats that look like the real thing, but have no electrical charge. Once your pet is trained to avoid the regular mats, it will also tend to avoid the dummy scat matts as well, so they are an affordable way to have more areas covered. You can continue to move the real and dummy scatmats around to keep your pet on its best behavior.

I discovered this product, which is not availabe in the UK, after adopting a retired racing greyhound and was having difficulty adapting to living in a home. It worked for me.
